In 1961, Galina Semenovna Sokol-Lukonin, the former spouse of his friend Mikhail Lukonin, became the second wife of the poet. In 1968, a couple adopted a boy named Peter.
Yevtushenko's head twisted his admirer from Ireland, due to which became his third wife Jen Butler. From her, the poet has two sons: Anton and Alexander.

“Badge of Honor”, ​​“Order of the Red Banner of Labor”, “Order of Friendship of Peoples”, medal “Defender of Free Russia”, honorary member of the “Russian Academy of Arts” is only a small list of the poet's awards. Yevtushenko was even a candidate for the Nobel Prize in literature for the poem "Babiy Yar". In 1978, a small planet of the Solar System was discovered in the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory, which was named after a famous poet.

April 1, 2017 in the press there were reports of the hospitalization of 84-year-old Yevgeny Yevtushenko in serious condition, but in full consciousness. That same day, he died in a dream from a cardiac arrest, calmly and painlessly, surrounded by close people. Later, his son Eugene explained that his father suffered from kidney cancer, who returned after six years of remission.
According to the testament of Yevtushenko, he will be buried in the literary village of Peredelkino, next to Boris Pasternak.
