Harbin Ice and Snow Festival 2018
The Chinese are able to organize grandiose and large-scale events. And most importantly all this is temporary!
Recently in the Chinese city of Harbin opened the largest International Festival of Ice and Snow, already the 34th in a row. Huge replicas of world famous structures, giant slides and sculptures, created from 180,000 cubic meters of ice.
More than 10,000 people have participated in the construction of this kingdom of snow and ice since the beginning of December.
Ice was taken from the Sungari River, a river in northeastern China. This is the largest tributary of the Amur in terms of water content, by the way.
A lot of ice. In general, Harbin is one of the coldest places in China. The temperature here can drop to minus 35 degrees. Each such supply ice block weighs about 250 kg.
And this is December, something epic is being created ...
In honor of the upcoming Olympic Games in Pkhenchkhane (South Korea), Chinese sculptors in Harbin built a sculptural complex of 100 meters long and 35 meters high from snow.
