Dismantling the motherboard
After the preparatory work, you need to open the lid of the system unit to remove all attached wires on the motherboard. When you proceed to this step, you will notice that there are three different wires:
- connecting indicators and buttons;
- responsible for food;
- data cables.
The power cable is responsible for connecting the motherboard, power supply and drive. Data cables interconnect drives. And the indicator cables are responsible for the connection between the motherboard and the indicator lights, which are located on the external panel of the computer case.In order not to confuse anything, make the appropriate notes and notes.
Before replacing the motherboard, you should disconnect all expansion cards that are attached to it. To do this, unscrew the screws and other fasteners. Removing the boards from the connectors is necessary very carefully, because even on a new motherboard, these expansion elements can be useful.
Now you can remove the memory modules by moving the latches that hold them. But if these modules do not interfere with the removal of the motherboard, they can be removed a little later. Sometimes, to remove the motherboard, you should also remove the hard drive and power supply. In the case itself, the motherboard rests on several screws.
In fact, removing the board is not easy, because the screws hold it tightly enough. In addition, there are special plastic latches that do not allow the board and the chassis to touch each other. Therefore, you need to carefully push the board itself out of the chassis holes, and then pull the racks out of the holes on the board. In order to remove the rack from the already elongated motherboard, you can use narrow-nose pliers.
