New Chinese training ship at sea

As recently as October 16, 2016, our blog reported that the shipyard Dalian Liaonan Shipyard in Lushun (formerly Port Arthur, now part of Dalian; the shipyard is located in the former East Basin of Port Arthur) is being completed for the Dalian Naval Academy Naval Forces PLA is a large training ship of a new project with an estimated displacement of about 10 thousand tons. Already on the same day, on October 16, the Chinese shippotters reported that the new training ship, completed with construction, had made the first way to factory trials from Lüshun.

It is reported that the new training ship, whose name has not yet been announced, was launched by Dalian Liaonan Shipyard at the end of March 2016. The ship has a length of 160 m and a width of 22 m, and is expected to replace the training ship Zhenghe ("Zheng He", tail number "81") of project 679, in service since 1987, in the fleet of the Dalian Naval Academy.
