Space Open exhibition in Saratov
A multimedia exhibition “Open space” opened in the city on the Volga in the mall Happy Mall. In several rooms on two floors, you can learn a little more about space, about the life and life of astronauts, feel the effect of electrostatic forces and sit in pepelats.
Specification: my project "Open space" is not associated with this exhibition.
The Saratov exhibition begins with instructions on how to become an astronaut. Just a few simple steps separate every person from a dream. If there are difficulties with obtaining higher engineering or flight education, perfect health and physical fitness, then it remains only to go further to the exhibition.
By the way, the set of 2017 in astronauts has already been completed, so we will have to wait another 5 years. It is just possible to have time to pull up mathematics and physical education, or to earn $ 50 million to pay for the tour.
After two steps - photo zone, where you can take pictures in a spacesuit.
More precisely, with its very remote replica or, as it were, softer, stylization. It can be seen that the American lunar A7L was taken as the basis for manufacturing, but what turned out to be very remotely similar to the original. In general, everything is bad with the real space exhibits at the exhibition - they are simply not there. The organizers did not manage to find a common language with Roscosmos, so they had to get out with such artisanal handicrafts and all sorts of interactive tables and multimedia tools, but with “viar”. However, the target audience of the exhibition is children under 14 years old, and for them it works - there is a helmet, a visor, there are hoses, a mirror on the sleeve, which means a space suit. The guide will explain why you need something, another and third.
By the way, another cosmonaut wanders around the exhibition and his spacesuit is much more like the Russian Orlan, apparently ordered from another workshop.
Next - the projection of Gagarin in a spacesuit, which can shake a latex hand.
It looks scary, but someone likes the idea.
In a pair of simulators, you can try out some stages of training in astronauts. Gyroscopic vestibular simulator looks much worse than it turns out in practice.
And in the three-axis simulator of the cockpit and I would have stayed for several hours, if there were no other children crowding in the queue.
Guides and infographics on the walls will tell you about the flight training of astronauts on jet planes, but you can only fly on a stand during the WWII screw times.
On a separate stand, you can learn more about space nutrition, and in the souvenir shop - buy tubes with edible contents. In the near future I will tell more about space nutrition.
Stand with extraterrestrial weights - a classic thing that can be found in many planetariums. I checked - the testimony is correct. Although, of course, physically it will not be possible to stand on the surface of the gas giant planets.
The process of star formation is a popular place for children bored with physical activity. Spirals of galaxies appear under your feet and it is fun to jump with them.
At the far wall in the shade is the table of the evolution of stars according to the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram, but few people have attention to it - the galaxies under their feet are more interesting.
On the way, a walking robot (in fact, a good suit) met, and the children taking photos immediately clung to it.
For fans of astronomy, there was the Big Dipper, where you can take pictures of riding.
Several exhibits are devoted to fantastic space exploration. There is Lego Star Wars, but more interesting is natural pepelats:
It is smaller than the original, but you can still sit inside and listen to the voices of your favorite characters.
The next interactive zone is allocated for mobile children and their parents. When approaching, the bubble-like alien on the screen begins to repeat your movements, and you have to jump in order to catch the flying bubbles with your mouth. More precisely, a person needs only to jump, the alien will do the rest himself.
In a separately enclosed pavilion, you can participate in a virtual mission on Mars.
I saw this in Moscow in Artplay. There you can make an exit to the surface of the Red Planet, survive the fall of a meteorite, jump over a tectonic rift and save the station by pulling the lever. The picture leaves much to be desired - while we are witnessing only the development of technology, but it is good that they are already trying to put it into practice, albeit entertaining.
There is a still option. The truth did not look what they show.
The lodgements of the Soyuz spacecraft are copied well. For comparison, the original is at the RKK Energy Museum in the Queen.
To illustrate weightlessness at the exhibition, they invented using souvenirs on the effect of magnetic levitation.
But with the plasma turned out well. The consultant at the stand even spoke about the ionization of gas, and about the fact that most of the known matter in the Universe is precisely in a state of plasma.
Alien robot from Skolkovo.
Guides do not specify where the planet Skolkovo is located and how the alien got to Earth.
For children, workshops are provided for a fee.
You can glue yourself a helmet astronaut.
Or own moon rover.
Lunokhod is not simple, it has an electrical circuit and is potentially capable of movement, subject to quality assembly.
On the second floor of the exhibition, you can control this small robot.
However, it has a weak connection with real planetary rovers. For them, do not use tracks and grabbing manipulators.
The Van de Graaff demo generator allows you to literally touch physics. When the generator is in operation, a positive charge accumulates on the sphere, which is transmitted to an un-grounded person who puts his hands on the ball.Likely charged hairs begin to repel each other and stand on end. You can discharge yourself by touching the generator operator with your finger, and you can feel like a little thunderbolt when you touch a noticeable corona discharge when touched.
You can take a break from a long walk in the “Open Space” in a small mobile planetarium, which nonstop various educational films.
At the exit - a gift shop.
Summing up, we can be glad that the theme of space continues to attract representatives of the entertainment industry, which contribute to the popularization of the topic. However, in its current form, the exhibition is aimed mainly at entertainment, without a serious educational aspect. Although noticeable desire for scientific materials, without stalling in the UFO and other astral. The organizers tried to take only licensed materials from the TV channel “Science”, RIA Novosti and Russian space systems, but the information is still not enough. The topic of manned space flight is more or less disclosed, and the rest is sporadic and not systematized.
The exhibition is planned to continue in Samara, Kazan, Rostov, Krasnodar, Tver and other cities. It remains to hope that it will develop and be able to reveal the theme of space and space research not only from the visual side, but also from the informational and practical one.
