Previously it was assumed that the daily volume of purchases would be equivalent to 11.5 billion rubles, notes Interfax. In April, the Ministry of Finance planned to buy currency at a record 240.7 billion rubles.
The ministry previously reported that from April 6 to May 8 buy in the domestic market currency at 11.5 billion rubles a day and in total will send for these purposes 240.7 billion rubles. but on Monday due to a sharp drop in the ruble exchange rate amid new sanctions US purchases have been discontinued.
As explained RIA Novosti in the Central Bank, the schedule of buying currency for the ministry in the framework of the budget rule may vary in individual days in the event of high volatility in the market, however, such a change the schedule does not entail a decrease in the announced monthly volume. Ministry of Finance, suspending the purchase of currency due to the weakening of the ruble, while does not intend to revise the monthly volume of operations, said on Wednesday and Finance Minister Anton Siluanov.
In turn, the deputy head of the monetary policy department of the Central Bank Andrei Lipin said on Thursday that the Bank of Russia may on certain days not to buy currency in the market for the Ministry of Finance or to reduce volumes in order to do not increase these operations market volatility, but does not see risks the failure of the monthly applications of the Ministry. According to him, the regulator will buy currency for the ministry and with steadily weakened ruble, but considers it important not to create market volatility.
