When is pregnancy?
Virtually every woman dreams of getting pregnant and having a healthy baby. And of course, everyone wants to have a clear idea of how, when and where this miracle will happen - conception. This process is unique, unpredictable, fascinating and very important.
The beginning of everything - the woman's menstrual cycle. Favorable days when pregnancy occurs - the days preceding ovulation and the day of ovulation itself. If a woman has had one-time sexual intercourse on these days, the probability of becoming pregnant reaches about 30%. The highest probability of pregnancy is 2 days before ovulation, almost 35%.
By the middle of the menstrual cycle in one of the ovaries mature follicle. Under the action of sex hormones in the first half of the cycle, the follicle membrane breaks and a mature egg comes out into the abdominal cavity, ready for fertilization. Then it enters the fallopian tube and moves to the uterus.
At the same time, from the side of the uterus, spermatozoa penetrate into the uterine section of the tube, which reach the cavity of the uterus an hour after intercourse and reach the fallopian tube in a couple of hours. The fastest and most mobile of them reaches the egg. Under the action of its enzymes, the shell of the egg cell dissolves, the sperm gets inside, where the chromosomes of the two cells - the male and the female - merge.
As a result, a zygote is formed - the future embryo, which is neither a mother cell nor a father cell, but so far consists of two halves of its own genetic set. From the fallopian tube zygote tends to get into the uterus, this process takes about 3 days, and the new cell is constantly growing and is divided into 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, etc. Parts.
Fixation of a fertilized egg
In the ovary on the site of a ruptured follicle, the corpus luteum forms and actively produces the hormone progesterone, the “pregnancy hormone”. Under the action of progesterone, the inner layer of the uterus - the endometrium - undergoes significant changes: thickens, becomes loose and soft, is filled with blood vessels and glands, prepares for the adoption of a fertilized egg and the beginning of pregnancy
The next three days the zygote spends in the “choice” of the place for implantation, most often it finds it on the back wall of the uterus. It secretes the enzymes, “prepares” this place for itself, dissolves part of the uterine mucosa and creates a small depression, where it sinks later.
Thus, 6-7 days is the time when pregnancy begins after conception. If, for any reason, the above-described changes in the endometrium do not occur, the egg cell cannot be implanted and the pregnancy does not come, the next menstruation will come.
